This research stems primarily for the purpose of analyzing the thought of John Dewey (1859-1952), with regard to his philosophical thought and teaching in support of what Dewey understood by Democratic Education and also to evaluate its influence in regard to current education in Mozambique. In order to achieve these objectives, we make a characterization of his philosophical article, and then emerge from the educational, from the social environment of American Pragmatism, doctrine which states that all learning, all knowledge must have a practical purpose. Dewey was the follower of the philosophical pragmatism initiated by William James (1842 - 1910) and Charles Sanders Peirce (1839 - 1914), both also Americans. However, Dewey's pragmatism to distinguish designed by James and Peirce preferred to call his doctrine as Instrumentalism, doctrine that the value of truth, of thought, a theory lies in its instrumental character, that is, their income on share. However, we tried a synthetic form, characteristic of contemporary philosophical movement that emerged in the nineteenth century. Featuring well, the thought of Dewey in the context of American pragmatism in order to be able to make his philosophical background and without ignoring the historical context. Thus, the thought of Dewey tries to focus on the great needs that American society of his time was, in the case of massive industrialization led by political motives and also the existence of two types of education, the traditional teacher centered and New School, student-centered, however, Dewey proposes a new type of education, or Democratic Progressive School where every student learns by doing, learn by doing, and is enriched by the experiences of other students. The fundamental thesis of thought Deweyan epistemology that is part of the center of Pragmatism, so cingimos in this work, the themes developed in his great work, "Democracy and Education", written in 1916, where we look for topics that reference the best cover, suggest and support the issue of Democratic Education, considered a type of education where every student is enriched by the experience of another student, shared a life where all students have the same equal opportunities. In the end, we see the importance of Dewey's thought particularly Progressita School Education in Mozambique and its influence in designing the new curriculum, which is an essential agent of Education students, the way Dewey conceived in his Democratic Progressive essay. Disembarking on the island, not without difficulty and encountering the initial refusal of Moreau to welcome you, Prendick see if unable to rest because a succession of roars that he identified as the ounces of the schooner. Moves away from the room where installed, and resolves to explore the site as an alternative to continue listening to those cries which focused on "all the suffering in the world." This forced tour, knows the territory. See scenes unintelligible, that challenge their initial response to physical types found. The other part he will know then fleeing Moreau and Montgomery. Found themselves the subjects had no endemic features, senses a second chance, equally erroneous but alarming: Moreau transform people into animals? Fearing the next, Prendick escapes and reaches the other side of ínsula.Encontra a village that brings together the most diverse and outlandish types. Sleeps in a hut where the figure of elderly aspect incites others to repeat "The Law" for unusual and hypnotic litany: "Do not walk on all fours, this is the Law Are we not men? "Do not drink with the tongue, this is the Law Are we not men? (...) And so on. The ring master Wells appears in this chapter in the statement: "There was no sign of fire." We're already seeing people living on the streets, side by side with dogs. We know of others who live in houses entocadas crowded and filthy, as neither admit rodents, because they move when the stay is unsustainable. We have passed on the sidewalk for individuals whose odor announced the deletion of the bath between their habits. We know of one that feeds exclusively found in the garbage containers. Despite the effort, can not remember a single animal species that make use of fire. We see men who live like animals, but animals that live as men is so unusual that Prendick was faced with the evidence but could not assimilate it.
